Surendrabikram Thapa

About Me

I am a research faculty at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, USA. I mostly work on problems related to deep learning. I got my master's degree from the Department of Computer Science, Virginia Tech. I was a visiting scholar at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia in 2019 where I worked on designing an AI predictive model for the early detection of Alzheimer's disease. I worked with CERN, Switzerland in collaboration with UNITAR and Intel in 2020.

My research areas revolve around machine learning and deep learning with a primary focus on data science for health care, computer vision, and Natural Language Processing. 

I am also a member of the Sanghani Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics, Virginia Tech.

I received the grant for successful publication of the work that I did with CERN and UNOSAT in summer of 2020.

Started internship cum fellowship with CSIR-CEERI Pilani, Rajasthan, India on Edge AI

I was selected to work on a 6-month long project on Edge AI.

Received IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Grant for paper accepted at IJCNN 2020

Awarded full registration grant that is provided to selected students who are first authors.

Selected for CERN openlab Summer Student Programme at CERN, Switzerland 2020

I was selected out of 1840 applicants for the prestigious CERN openlab program.
